Bio

Morton Katz is a retired partner in and of counsel for Herman, Herman & Katz, LLC, as well as national firm Herman Gerel, LLP (both plaintiff and defense firms share partners).  Katz’s practice areas include personal injury, maritime personal injury, real estate litigation, product liability and construction litigation.  Katz is admitted in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, the United States District Court for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Katz is a former member of the advisory board of the American Arbitration Association.  He is a former member of the board of governors and the advisory board of the Louisiana Association for Justice.  He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, as well as a Founding Fellow of the Southern Trial Lawyers Association.  Having completed Officer Candidate School in the Louisiana National Guard in 1969, he received commission as Second Lieutenant.  In 1973, he was honorably discharged.

Katz received a B.A. from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1966 and a J.D. from Loyola University in 1969.  Katz is an emeritus member of the Law School Visiting Committee and served as president of the Law School Alumni Association.
